I don’t understand why anyone purchases the default face-up for their doll. Why wouldn’t you want to make your doll more personal?

I used to wonder the same thing. Then I ended up with a second-hand doll who had a default. It’s not one I would have done, but it was a cute faceup. I could see why someone might want it for their character. Plus there are plenty of other ways to customize your doll.

I always thought it was because they didn’t want their doll to arrive blank? You can always wipe a face-up later or add to it, so perhaps they wanted to play straight away. Also, some company face-ups are lovely - Volks standards have very basic face-ups because the emphasis has always been on personalisation, but there isn’t the same focus on customisation for, say, Iplehouse dolls, so their company face-ups are more detailed and intended to stay.

Just my theory!

I would hate to have her as a daughter oh lord.

Seriously WTF??

If this was my child the car would go away and we would have a serious talk about other girls all over the world who are child brides, or prevented from going to school, or mutilated by a ‘wise woman’ to make them marriage material… and still find strength and grace to go on with their lives.

Malala Yousafzai didn’t get a strop on and she was shot in the head. Kakenya Ntaiya wanted to go to high school, her father consented only if she would agree to undergo FGM to prevent him being ‘embarrassed’. At 12 Kakenya Ntaiya did go through the procedure, discovered later that it was illegal in her country (Kenya) and has now worked with the elders of her community to turn things around. As of this year, she’s saved 127 other girls from FGM and educated the community so that more and more girls won’t have to be subjected to it or pressured into it to be able to get an education.

Inspirational women and girls the world over have a bloody awful time of it but turn around their circumstances to become survivors and educators and pathfinders, and your life is ruined? By the wrong car on the wrong day? Really.

I agree it does make you sick when you know what a lot other girls have to go through, or people in general who are less fortunate then her. Which is probably why I would show less restraint then you.

Like families that can’t feed themselves and go hungry, not just the poorer countries that we all see on the TV that make it seem so far away when really  even in countries like the UK (and I have been hearing the US) have families that grow hungry. You’re also right in some countries getting an education is not easy for some people, or even impossible and they are so grateful for the chance.

Even the everyday lives of people in some countries were them bring gifted with a bike is a dream come true because it means they can cycle to work. Gosh, I would even consider myself very lucky if it was gifted with something so amazing as a car (if I was able to drive) because they are not cheap.

Which is why I would probably give her a very good slapping…

Oh, she definitely deserves a slap! I agree with you. I think she needs to know why she got the slap though, otherwise she would continue down the woe-is-me-my-life-sucks-I-have-so-much-privilege-I’m-drowning-in-it self pity!

I don’t drive, so if someone did buy me a car and pay for my driving tuition I would be so grateful. I remember when kids got bikes for their birthday/Christmas and were incredibly grateful. When people act like this it’s not only embarrassing for them, it’s embarrassing for society having bred these little emperors/empresses to behave this way.

On the 16th of June 1973 The Rocky Horror Show began previews in the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs, London. They held their official, thunder ridden, opening night on the 19th of June 1973.

2013 marks the 40th Anniversary of this incredible production and I want to share some Frankie love here on Tumblr in a tribute to ‘the man who began it’ - Dammit. Well one of them. The one who stormed that stage forty years ago with such style and perfection that we’re sitting here forty years later, still talking about that tiny little production which by rights should have disappeared into the zeitgeist after the originally intended three week run.

So, Tumblr, can we get 4711 notes by 19th June?

If we do it.

I will post a rare - never before seen - photo from the original Theatre Upstairs production.

 Well. How nice.

Fun fact: Dustin Hoffman and Bob Hoskins decided secretly that they’d play Hook and Smee as a gay couple. When Spielberg, the director, found out, he was furious.

I just think it’s hilarious.

OH MY GOD

well this just made my childhood 1000% better

Oh wow this makes so much sense now. EVERYTHING FALLS INTO PLACE

Gonna rewatch Hook one day.

i wanna see this movie now

I had no idea when I was wee but that makes it even better if true!

I sort of always felt that about them. Young me feels somewhat vindicated now I know the truth! Oh captain, my captain…
